Ted Spero
Ted Spero is the curator of our raw and exposed music collection, and has donated over 50,000 hours of his rare and unreleased music to the O Street Museum Foundation.
Ted's DNA is music, and his exposure to the genesis of the creative process started as a small child in Cleveland, Ohio, when his father had one of the first television shows devoted to Rock & Roll. His childhood home was frequently visited by the many artists that performed on the Upbeat Show, and Ted was struck by the way music evolved and effected the artist, and the listener, and how the "persona" of the artist was nothing like who the musicians were, sitting around the breakfast table, breaking bread.
Ted's first big Rock & Roll concert was James Brown, in 1966. Standing back stage with his father, watching the Master as he held the 8,000 fans in the palm of his hand, Ted knew his life was forever devoted to music.
